Weymouth’s Half Distance Triathlon demands preparation, and this 24-week training plan is built specifically for triathletes aged 60 and over who have maintained their fitness and can complete an Olympic distance event. Whether you’re aiming to finish strong or set a new benchmark, this plan helps you train smart, recover well, and race with purpose.

🏊‍♂️ Swim Training that Mirrors Weymouth Bay
The one-loop, 1.9 km swim in Weymouth Bay is ideal for those who train for open-water endurance. This plan includes weekly swim workouts—many with video-based drills—to improve stroke efficiency and build aerobic endurance in calm and colder water conditions (~63°F / 17°C), just like race day.

🚴‍♂️ Bike Workouts for Rolling Dorset Terrain
Weymouth’s 90 km bike course rolls through the scenic but undulating countryside of Dorset. With 1,000 meters of elevation, you'll need a steady engine and strong legs. This plan includes structured endurance rides, hill repeats, and power-based intervals to prepare you for climbs and maintain pacing over long efforts.

🏃‍♂️ Run Conditioning for a Coastal, Loop Course
With 21.1 km along the esplanade, the run course is flat but mentally demanding. Your plan incorporates long steady runs, brick workouts (bike + run), and strategic speed work to build durability and improve running economy, especially off the bike.
