Ready to take on one of the most breathtaking races in Europe? The Half Distance Triathlon Zell am See-Kaprun offers a one-lap swim through the crystal-clear waters of Lake Zell, a challenging alpine bike course with a 1,280 m summit, and a fast, scenic run along the lakeshore and through Zell’s old town. This isn't just any race—it’s a test of endurance, strength, and strategy.

Our 44-Week Half Distance Triathlon Beginner Training Plan is specifically designed to prepare you—mentally and physically—for every part of the Zell am See-Kaprun course. With a two-phase structure (12-week base + 32-week specific race prep), you’ll build a rock-solid foundation before dialing in race-specific skills that match the demands of this iconic event.

✅ Swim-Ready for Lake Zell
You’ll develop efficient stroke mechanics and open water confidence through structured drills and technique-focused swim workouts, perfect for mastering the single-lap course across chilly alpine waters (17–23 °C / 63–73 °F).

✅ Climb Strong on the Bike
From week 13 on, you'll build power and endurance to handle the ~870 m climb to Filzen Saddle. With targeted V02 and threshold bike intervals, plus hill simulations, you'll be ready for the steep pitches (~15%) and technical descents into the valley.

Structured RPE and heart rate-based run sessions develop endurance and pacing, ideal for a fast and flat two-lap run past Thumersbach and Zell’s historic center.
