Plan Description
This Beginner's Six-Month Half Distance Triathlon Plan is designed specifically to help you train effectively for the terrain, conditions, and demands of Vichy’s race day.
🌊 Swim – 1.9 KM in Lac d’Allier
You'll train for a calm, freshwater lake swim in warm temperatures (24–26°C). The plan incorporates open-water simulation sessions, swim drills for stroke efficiency, and endurance sets to prepare for the single-loop format and sighting practice to help with navigation in a rectangular course.
🚴 Bike – 90 KM of Rolling Terrain
The bike course in Vichy features rolling countryside, fast flats, and moderate climbs like the Côte de Saint-Antoine de Cusset, with a total elevation gain of around 700m. Our plan includes strength-building hill repeats, steady-state tempo rides, and long sessions to simulate the demands of sustained effort across varied terrain. You'll build confidence on both climbs and descents.
🏃 Run – 21.1 KM Flat and Fast Loops
Flat riverside loops with changing temperatures mean pacing and heat management are critical. You’ll benefit from tempo runs, interval sessions, and brick workouts that simulate running off the bike — plus guidance on nutrition and hydration strategies to stay strong through the final kilometers.
