The Half Distance Triathlon in Vichy offers a unique mix of calm water, rolling hills, and a fast, flat run course—each demanding specific preparation. Our Intermediate 24-Week Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is purpose-built to help you meet the demands of Vichy’s terrain and weather conditions while targeting peak performance on race day.

✅ Swim Preparedness for Lac d’Allier
You’ll train in open water simulation sets that improve sighting, breathing control—key for Vichy’s warm, often wetsuit-restricted lake. Stroke refinement drills ensure you’re efficient and calm through the single-loop swim.

🚴 Climb Strong, Descend Smooth
Vichy's bike course features sustained rollers and technical descents, including the climb at Saint-Antoine de Cusset. We’ve built in progressive bike workouts using Power and Heart Rate zones, targeting endurance, tempo, and climbing strength to match the 700m elevation profile.

🏃 Run Smart in the Heat
The flat, double-loop run along the Allier River gets hot. Our plan includes brick sessions, race-pace intervals, and track sessions to help you stay consistent under pressure. Hydration planning and pacing guidance are integrated throughout.

From swim-bike to bike-run transitions, every detail is covered. Structured brick workouts and transition practice prepare you to move efficiently and stay strong all the way to the finish.
