You should probably be giving yourself a little more than 8 weeks of training, but if you are limited for time, this training plan will help you get ready for a Half Distance or 70.3 distance triathlon.
Athlete should have some basic fitness behind them and be able to swim comfortably for 500m in a pool. A large portion of the training in this plan is time based, meaning there is a lot less pressure on the athlete to be covering a certain amount of distance in training sessions, but instead the athlete is to spend "time" on their feet. This will help them get a better feel for intensities and help an intermediate athlete get ready for a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon.
The goal of this training plan is to build consistency in your training, but with the limited time and plan only running for 8 weeks. The plan starts with 6 training days from the first week and will build up to just over 9 hours of training a week. Long bike rides start at 90 minutes, building to 3 hours, and long runs start at 60 minutes and build up to 2 hours. Most days consist of only one training session. The weekends are where the training plan add extra training sessions including brick sessions and a race simulation on week 6 of the training plan.
