The Half Distance Triathlon Calgary unfolds in Harmony, Alberta—just west of the city near the Canadian Rockies.

This six-month Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is built to help Masters athletes over 40 prepare specifically for challenges like those presented in Calgary. It combines endurance, strength, and intelligent progression to support your development toward race day.

✅ Builds Open Water Confidence – Structured swim workouts, paired with expert-led video drills, help refine technique and build stamina for colder lake conditions and two-loop formats with exits.

✅ Prepares for Rolling Bike Terrain –Bike sessions include efforts that simulate variable elevation and wind exposure, common in Calgary’s foothills. Power and heart rate zones guide you through threshold work, ensuring your legs are ready to climb and sustain pace across long flats.

✅ Conditions for Multi-Loop Running – Run workouts progressively prepare you for multiple loop formats, including the mental and physical demands of out-and-backs and terrain changes within the golf course segment.

✅ Sustainable Volume for Masters Athletes – Weekly training hours range from 7.5 to 12.5, with a 3:1 build/recovery cycle to reduce fatigue and injury risk. You’ll have time to adapt while building performance week by week.
