Plan Description
This training plan is for a Half Distance or 70.3 distance triathlon. Athlete should have some basic fitness behind them and be able to swim comfortably for 500m in a pool. A large portion of the training in this plan is time based, meaning there is a lot less pressure on the athlete to be covering a certain amount of distance in training sessions, but instead the athlete is to spend "time" on their feet. This will help them get a better feel for intensities and help an intermediate athlete get ready for a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon.
The goal of this training plan is to build consistency in your training, starting off with 5 training days in a week and building to 6 in the first 4 weeks. The biggest training week of this plan is just over 9 hours, and most days consist of only one training session a week. The weekends are where the training plan add extra training sessions including brick sessions and a race simulation on week 13 of the training plan.
