The Half Distance San Juan Triathlon offers fast, flat racing through stunning desert landscapes and a vibrant cityscape—and this 36-week Intermediate Training Plan is your key to racing it with confidence and power.

Why Train with This Plan for San Juan?

This plan is more than just a schedule—it's a strategic journey, designed to meet the unique demands of racing in San Juan’s dry heat, altitude, and high-speed course profile. Starting with a 12-week base phase, you’ll build aerobic endurance, muscular strength, and sport-specific skill to lay the groundwork for performance. Whether you're new to structured training or looking to elevate your results, this phase gets you race-ready from the ground up.

Strong Athletes Start Strong

We emphasize early strength development to help you conquer the bike leg’s sustained efforts and finish the run strong. By week 7, you'll integrate VO₂ interval sessions and swimming technique refinement, prepping you for speed in the calm waters of Dique Ullum and power on San Juan’s fast bike course.
