When targeting the Half Distance Triathlon in Bahrain, our 44-week training plan is your roadmap to crossing the finish line strong. This event, with its L-shaped swim in 73°F (23°C) waters, flat, fast bike course past iconic Bahrain landmarks, and a four-loop run through Reef Island and the Financial Harbour, demands smart, race-specific preparation—and that’s exactly what this plan delivers.

💪 Here’s how this plan prepares you for Bahrain’s course:

✅ Swim-Ready Confidence: With technique-focused swim sessions early in the plan and progressive endurance training throughout, you’ll be well-prepared for the 1.9 km open-water swim in the calm, warm waters off Reef Island. Expect drills that mirror sighting and turns—ideal for the L-shaped layout of the Bahrain swim.

✅ Bike Power for Bahrain’s Fast Course: Bahrain’s 90 km single-lap bike course is flat, aerodynamic, and fast. Our plan emphasizes Aerobic Base and Anaerobic Power workouts, helping you build sustainable power and efficiency in aero position. We also include long rides with realistic pacing strategies for steady-state performance.

✅ Run Strong on the Loops: The 21.1 km run features four loops, requiring both endurance and mental toughness. Our program features threshold and VO2 max sessions to help you master pacing, plus specific training to simulate looped courses and crowd interaction, giving you an edge on race day.

✅ Peak When It Counts: The 32-week build uses a 3:1 periodization model—three weeks of progressive overload followed by one week of active recovery—to ensure you avoid burnout and show up on race day fresh, tapered, and ready to perform.

✅ Strength & Durability: Bahrain’s course may be fast, but strength matters. Our plan builds functional strength early on, then transitions to race-specific power—minimizing injury risk and maximizing performance across all three disciplines.
