The Half Distance Triathlon North Carolina is a race built for speed and precision: a current-assisted 1.2-mile saltwater swim in Wrightsville Beach, a flat and fast 56-mile bike over rural roads and the Cape Fear River, and a scenic, high-energy run through downtown Wilmington.

If you're aiming to race—not just complete—the distance, this structured 44-week Half Distance Triathlon training plan will help you arrive ready, confident, and in peak form.

🔥 Required 12-Week Base Training Phase
Before building speed or intensity, we focus on what matters most: your aerobic engine and foundational strength. This base phase is essential for building durability and consistency—no prior mileage or fitness required, but full commitment is.

Structured around a proven 3-weeks-on, 1-week-recovery cycle, this phase steadily ramps volume and intensity. With carefully designed sessions across all three disciplines, you’ll train with precision and build toward peak performance without overtraining.
