When targeting peak performance at the Half Distance Triathlon Cozumel, Mexico, you need a plan with precision, progression, and power, this 44-week advanced training plan is built to take you there.

With crystal-clear 84°F waters, flat coastal roads, and scenic downtown run laps, Cozumel presents unique advantages—but only to athletes who are ready for heat, speed, and endurance.

✅ Designed for Experienced Athletes:
Whether you're stepping up from shorter distances or returning to the Half Distance Triathlon after a break, this plan is optimized for amateur-advanced athletes who are ready to race hard.

✅ 12-Week Base Training (No Prior Mileage Required):
Even if you're starting from scratch, our structured base phase builds your aerobic engine with manageable volume—preparing your body for the intensity ahead. Expect steady progression in swimming efficiency, bike strength, and run durability.

✅ 32-Week Performance Build with Smart Periodization:
Follow a proven 3:1 cycle—3 weeks of progressive overload followed by 1 recovery week—to maximize adaptation and avoid burnout. Training starts at ~9.5 hours/week and peaks at 14 hours in week 39, matching Cozumel's demand for sustained power and mental stamina.

✅ Swim-Specific Prep for Warm, Open Waters:
Train confidently for Cozumel’s warm, calm swim. We emphasize technique refinement, open-water pacing, and strategic positioning to help you thrive in the rolling-start format.

✅ Flat Course Power on the Bike:
With 1.3 laps around the island, Cozumel’s bike course is about sustained output. Our plan includes threshold intervals, aerobic endurance, and crosswind simulation to prepare you for fast flats and tropical breezes.

✅ Run Smart in the Heat:
Prepare for two 10.5K laps on a hot, flat course. Run-specific sessions include heat adaptation, tempo efforts, and nutrition/hydration strategies to help you finish strong in the downtown plaza—no matter the temperature.

✅ Strength & Energy System Training:
Integrating functional strength early and conventional lifting later, plus targeted VO2 max, anaerobic threshold, and ATP-PC sessions to fine-tune sprint power and efficiency.
