Plan Description

Half Distance Triathlon Santa Cruz: Ultimate Coastal Triathlon Experience

Begin your journey with a 1.2-mile swim on Santa Cruz Main Beach, right by the famous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The swim follows a clockwise route around the Wharf and concludes at Cowellโ€™s Beach.


The 56-mile bike course is a single, scenic loop starting at Depot Park. Cyclists head north along Californiaโ€™s breathtaking Highway 1, passing rugged coastal views up to the historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse before turning back south. The course, returning to Depot Park, is designed for triathletes to experience both the serenity and splendor of the Pacific coastline.


The 13.1-mile run begins at Depot Park and crosses the West Cliff Bridge to join the West Cliff Path. Athletes will enjoy a mostly flat, fast course that travels past Natural Bridges State Park and heads toward Wilder Ranchโ€™s dramatic ocean bluffs for a scenic turnaround. The run concludes on the beach at Cowellโ€™s Beach, with the last stretch on sandy shores.
