The Half Distance Triathlon Calgary course presents a mix of river-lake swimming, foothills cycling, and multi-loop running—each with specific demands. Our 36-week advanced training plan is built to address these exact race-day challenges so you arrive prepared, confident, and ready to execute.

🏊‍♂️ Swim - Lake Harmony
The two-loop 1.2-mile swim includes an Aussie exit, requiring both pacing and re-entry skill. Water temperatures around 70°F (21°C) often warrant wetsuits. The plan develops swim endurance and efficiency through focused technique drills and aerobic mile training, ensuring you're strong across both laps with energy left for the bike.

🚴‍♂️ Bike - Eastern Foothills of Calgary
This 56-mile course over rolling, sometimes windy terrain demands climbing ability and smart energy output. The plan builds cycling strength through climbing acceleration intervals and anaerobic power training. With two loops on exposed rural roads, you'll be ready for the elevation and wind variability thanks to specific long-ride simulations and VO₂ max development.

🏃‍♀️ Run - Bow River + Golf Course Loops
The three-loop, 13.1-mile run mixes paved and mixed-surface trails with mild elevation changes. High-quality run sessions—including anaerobic threshold training and ATP-PC power sprints—build the durability and leg speed needed to maintain pace and form across all laps.
