Half Distance Triathlon Boise: Your 36-Week Plan for Confidence, Strength & Success - With its unique combination of calm reservoir waters, rural rolling bike terrain, and a warm, flat riverfront run, this race demands a training plan that’s specific, progressive, and intelligently structured.

Our 36-week beginner Half Distance Triathlon training plan is purpose-built to meet the exact challenges of the Boise course. Designed for athletes of all experience levels, it guides you from your first week of structured training through race day with clarity and support. No prior triathlon experience is required.

🏊 Swim Ready for Lucky Peak Reservoir
You'll start your race in the clear, wetsuit-legal waters of Lucky Peak. Our plan’s first 12 weeks focus on foundational strength and technique—including swim drills and instructional videos—so you feel efficient and calm in open water.

🚴 Bike Strong Across Rural Boise
The 56-mile bike segment features fast descents, rolling terrain, and long stretches through Boise’s countryside. You'll train with heart-rate and perceived effort targets to master sustained power output, mimicking Boise’s steady demands. Progressive bike sessions build both confidence and pacing strategy.

🏃 Run Smart on the Boise River Greenbelt
Race-day temperatures average 81°F, and the final 13.1-mile run is warm but flat. You'll train with tempo runs and brick workouts in the latter 24-week build phase, ensuring you're ready for the physical and mental challenges of running in heat after a long ride.
