Plan Description

Half Distance Triathlon Boise begins with an open-water swim in Lucky Peak Reservoir, followed by rolling rural bike terrain, and ending with a warm half marathon along the Boise River Greenbelt. Our Beginner’s Six-Month Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is strategically designed to prepare you for every leg of this race with confidence and purpose.

🏊‍♂️ Swim-Ready Confidence
The race begins with a 1.2-mile swim in the calm, clear waters of Lucky Peak Reservoir, where wetsuit-legal temperatures (avg. 72°F / 22°C) are typical. Our plan builds swim efficiency with technique-focused drills, open-water simulation sets, and endurance swims that gradually increase in distance—ensuring you feel strong and composed from the first stroke.

🚴‍♀️ Built for Boise’s Bike Course
The 56-mile ride features descents from Lucky Peak, rolling countryside, and sections that invite steady pacing. Our bike workouts simulate these rolling conditions with structured intervals and aerobic endurance rides, building your power output and pacing skills for varied terrain. Sessions are tailored using Rate of Perceived Effort (RPE) and heart rate guidance to maximize gains.

🏃‍♂️ Dialed-In Run Preparation
The 13.1-mile run unfolds on two flat loops along the Boise River Greenbelt, often under warm (avg. 81°F / 27°C) race-day conditions. Our plan includes tempo runs, and brick workouts that condition your body to run strong off the bike—even in warmer temperatures.
