Set against the breathtaking backdrop of South Korea’s Hallyeohaesang National Park and the pristine coast of Goseong, the Half Distance Triathlon Goseong offers a thrilling yet challenging test of endurance. Our 36-week beginner training plan is specifically designed to help you perform your best on this unique course — even if you're starting from scratch.

With its ocean swim, rolling bike terrain, and shaded, looping run, Goseong demands smart preparation. Our plan gives you the structure and guidance to build endurance, skill, and confidence — all while avoiding burnout.

✅ 12-week base phase: Build aerobic capacity, muscular strength, and master swim technique with video-guided drills and structured heart rate/RPE-based workouts.

✅ 24-week focused phase: Progressively increase weekly training time from 7 to 12 hours with long bikes, open-water swim prep, tempo runs, and brick workouts to simulate race day.

✅ Swim-specific training: Prepare for the 1.9km rolling pontoon start in ocean water averaging 68°F (20°C) — no surprises on race day.

✅ Bike-smart programming: The 90.1km course is scenic but rolling. You'll train on terrain that mimics those gentle ascents and descents.

✅ Run-strong sessions: Master the 3-loop run, including the 500m hill section (7% grade), with interval and strength training that conditions you for pacing and recovery.

✅ Strength training: Video-supported* workouts improve injury resistance and help with form — critical for beginners.
