Are you dreaming of crossing the finish line at the Half Distance Triathlon Chattanooga? Whether you're new to triathlon or returning after a break, this 36-week beginner training plan is designed specifically to guide you—step by step—toward success in one of the most scenic and exciting races in the Southeast.

Chattanooga's Half Distance Triathlon starts with a 1.4-mile swim in the Tennessee River at Ross’s Landing Park, followed by a 56-mile bike ride through rolling hills and the beautiful backdrop of Lookout Mountain. The race finishes with a 13.1-mile run weaving through the heart of downtown Chattanooga, across historic bridges and along the Tennessee Riverwalk.

This beginner-friendly training plan begins with a 12-week foundation phase to build endurance, strength, and proper form. You'll focus on technique-driven swim drills (with clear video guidance), low-impact run/walk sessions, and bike workouts structured by RPE and heart rate—ensuring you're training smart, not just hard.

As you progress, the 24-week Half Distance Triathlon-specific phase prepares you for the exact demands of the Chattanooga course. Weekly training time starts around 7 hours and builds up to 12 hours at peak, helping you develop the stamina and mental toughness to perform your best. You’ll master open-water swimming, gain strength with guided video-based workouts, and learn race-day fueling strategies to help you stay energized through every mile.
