Ready to take on the Half Distance Triathlon Gulf Coast in Panama City Beach, Florida? This race is no ordinary event. With its crystal-clear Gulf swim, flat and fast bike course, and one of the flattest, most spectator-friendly run loops on the circuit, it demands precision, preparation, and performance. Our 44-week Beginner Half Distance Triathlon Training Plan is expertly crafted to help you build strength, speed, and endurance—exactly what you need to succeed on race day.

Why This Plan Works for the Gulf Coast Course

This isn't a generic triathlon plan—it's a structured progression built for the specific demands of the Gulf Coast course. The race opens with a 1.2-mile Gulf swim, where clear waters can also mean strong currents and unpredictable surf. Our swim blocks sharpen technique and build confidence in open water, preparing you to handle everything from swells to sighting in the surf.

The flat 56-mile bike through intercoastal paths and Pine Log State Forest is ideal for sustained power in aero position. That's why we prioritize long aerobic efforts and progressive strength rides, helping you maximize speed while managing light winds and rolling terrain.

Then comes the 13.1-mile run—fast, flat, and repetitive. We train you for the mental and physical demands of lapping with RPE- and heart rate-based intervals, ensuring strong pacing, hydration strategy, and heat adaptation as temps climb from the 50s to mid-70s.
