Florianopolis offers one of Brazil’s most stunning and dynamic Half Distance Triathlon courses—crystal-clear waters at Ingleses Beach, a rolling yet fast 90 km bike course, and a scenic 21.1 km coastal run. This 36-week Half Distance Triathlon training plan is built to prepare you for every aspect of this unforgettable race.

Here’s how this proven plan gets you race-day ready:

✅ 12-Week Endurance Foundation
Start strong with a smart base-building phase. Whether you're coming off the couch or transitioning from sprint races, you'll develop aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, and confidence. Early strength sessions and swim drills ensure you're efficient in the water—perfect for tackling the rectangular loop at Ingleses Beach.

✅ Progressive Load for Peak Performance
From Week 13 onward, you'll shift into focused Half Distance Triathlon prep. Volume increases gradually, capping at around 12.5 hours per week, giving your body time to adapt while minimizing injury risk. The structured long rides and brick workouts mimic Florianopolis’ rolling bike terrain and prep you for smooth transitions.

You’ll train specifically for the demands of the Florianopolis Half Distance Triathlon:

🏊 Open water swim workouts simulate the beach start and ocean conditions

🚴 Vo2 max intervals and tempo rides mirror the mix of flats and climbs on the bike course

🏃 Race-pace run sessions along with endurance bricks build the stamina to cruise the final 21.1 km along the coast
