Train Smart for the Half Distance Triathlon Panamá – Your 36-Week Plan to Race-Day Success

Get ready to race through the heart of Panamá City, a modern metropolis surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the legendary Panamá Canal. The Half Distance Panamá Triathlon is a one-of-a-kind event offering panoramic views, a fast and flat course, and the thrill of racing beside iconic landmarks like Casco Viejo and the Puente de las Américas. With this 36-week intermediate training plan, you’ll be fully prepared to perform your best in one of the world’s most scenic triathlons.

🏊‍♂️ SWIM – Conquer the Canal
Train to take on the 1.2-mile point-to-point swim in the Pacific side of the Panamá Canal, starting at the Balboa Yacht Club and finishing near the Biomuseo. Spectators will enjoy a full view from Calzada de Amador, while you power through warm 78°F (26°C) waters.

🚴‍♀️ BIKE – Fast, Flat, and Scenic
This plan builds the power and stamina needed for the 56-mile (90 km) bike course, a 3-loop route between Calzada de Amador and Cinta Costera. You’ll fly past colonial-era Casco Viejo and towering skyscrapers—prepped by structured tempo rides, VO₂ intervals, and power-based training sessions.

🏃 RUN – Peak Performance on the Boardwalk
The 13.1-mile run takes place on a three-loop course along the Calzada de Amador, offering sweeping views of Panamá City, the Canal, and the Puente de las Américas. With brick workouts, threshold runs, and endurance track sessions, you’ll hit your stride with confidence.
