Plan Description

This 20 week trail running plan has been designed for rolling trail runs in the region of marathon distance to 50km.

It includes strength and conditioning and is largely based on heart rate. Some sessions are RPE based where this is more appropriate.

The plan has been written by Doug Stewart, a highly accomplished trail running coach that works with athletes of all abilities, including coaching athletes to victories in UTMB World Series races and top 10 finishes at the UTMB Finals in Chamonix.

The plan follows a typical pattern of two build weeks before a recovery week and is designed for races with moderate elevation change, there is also a version available for more mountainous races.

The plan features 2 days a week with 2 runs in a day, and is designed for runners that are more experienced/looking to be competitive. Our Beginner plan is more suitable for those newer to the sport.
