A customized plan to get you to the finish line your 100 miler and run your best race! This plan is ideal for races with less than 15000 feet (4,500m) of vertical gain. The "Mountain" plan is ideal for races with more vertical gain.
I am a certified running and ultrarunning coach and an experienced ultra runner. I have numerous podium and top 10 finishes at Hellbender 100, Bighorn 100, Vermont 100, Grindstone 100, UTMB, Cruel Jewel, and many more. I've successfully coached hundreds athletes for ultras including Vermont, Canyons, Western States, Leadville, Rio del Lago, Grindstone, and UTMB.
This plan is distance-based and assumes baseline experience with running 35-40 miles / 55-60km per week and comfort with running trails and mountains. Training volume peaks at 60-65 miles (~100km) per week.
This plan includes:
- Daily workout type, mileage, and intensity levels
- Recommended type of terrain and vertical
- Specifics workouts (intervals, hill intervals, tempo runs, strides, etc.) targeted to performing your best in a mountain 100
- Weekly notes on the training intent and goals for that week
- An intermediate race / event / time trial at 13 weeks (with the option to skip this)
- Recommendations on when to include strength workouts and a set of recommended exercises
