Good morning dear runner! My name is Jaume and I am a specialist trainer in running and trail running. I am also a trail and track runner who won the silver in the Catalonia championship on vertical kilometer in 2022, personal best in 10 Km of 33:06 in 2021, and ASICS Trail Elite Factory Athlete. Training plan to improve your trail performance in six weeks. Suitable for all profiles, both popular runners and runners who are preparing to seriously compete in trail running. This plan is not for you if you have never tried trail running. As most of you know, there are five heart rate (HR) zones (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5) where you train. Each one corresponds to a percentage of the maximum heart rate (MHR). It is vitally important that the HR zones are respected in training, since not complying with them can stall your improvement and increase the risk of injury. An easy and useful way to calculate your maximum heart rate (MHR) is as follows:
MHR=220-Age. For example, if I am 30 years old, my MHR will be the following: FCM=220-30=190 bpm.
This formula is an approximation, the most accurate way to calculate it is by doing a stress test.
This plan is based on a polarized model of training, where Z1-Z2 comprise 70% of the total volume, Z3 10% and Z4-Z5 20%. I remain you to stretch after every session.
