Plan Description
This 12-week plan delivers comprehensive aerobic, strength and mobility training to prepare you for a successful venture into the half-marathon and 25km distance.
You will utilize heart rate as a measure of intensity, and establish your own unique training parameters based on straightforward aerobic and anaerobic tests completed throughout the plan.
Workouts are based on time and not distance, to account for the variability of trail terrain.
This plan starts at lower volumes and is ideal for athletes wanting to take a step up to the half-marathon and similar distances for the first time. If you've been training more consistently and/or have competed at the marathon level before, consider our Intermediate version of the 12wk plan for higher volumes and intensity.
This plan requires access to hilly trails or alternatively a treadmill which can ascend to 15%+ gradient.
