Plan Description
16-Week Strength Program for Runners
This 16-week strength program is designed specifically for runners who want to build a stronger, more resilient body to support their training and racing. Three sessions per week. The plan includes four progressive phases:
Hypertrophy (Weeks 1–4): Build muscle balance, stability, and joint resilience.
Max Strength (Weeks 5–8): Train your nervous system to generate more force and improve running economy.
Endurance / Power Phase (Weeks 9–14): Translate strength into running-specific endurance, fatigue resistance, and explosive power.
Taper (Weeks 15–16): Maintain strength while reducing fatigue so you arrive at the start line fresh and strong.
Program Features
Runner-Specific: Full-body workouts tailored to complement endurance training.
Flexible Equipment: Exercises use resistance bands, dumbbells, and optional barbell variations. Suitable for both gyms and small home setups.
Balanced Training: Focuses on injury prevention, core stability, and efficiency — not just lifting heavy.
Clear Guidance: Rep ranges, rest periods, and progression built in for each phase.
