Plan Description

** This plan is aimed at someone with good relative fitness and general hill experience who is looking at following a specific programme 12 weeks out from a Mountain/Trail 50k.

Slow training for Ultras is dead.. Speed, running economy and race specific conditioning at the right time is the best approach. Top end speed, hills, good clean rest and exposed long runs at the right time to allow for a peak performance when the time comes.

There is everything within this plan. We've got Gym prompts, we've got midweek intervals sessions on the flats, on the hills and strategically placed longer runs that don't just ask you to log miles. We have fast starts, fast finishes and race simulations to get the most out of the time you have.

See notes on feeding, hydration, pre run prep and post run recovery. Also recommended day for sports massages and some finer details to look after yourself as-well as supplement recommendations.

Note, this plan is based on your RPE, or Rate of Perceived Exertion. Workout intensities are guided by how hard you are working based on your perception of effort (how hard the workout feels to you) rather than heart rate.
