Plan Description

18-week FULL marathon training program. This is a training plan designed by FITNESS FORMULA CLUBS (FFC) to help you get ready for a FULL marathon! Since 1997, the FFC "RunMonster" run club (ffc.com/running) has helped thousands of runners reach the finish line while raising over $1 million for charity. Our training program is designed by USA TRACK & FIELD (USATF) and ROAD RUNNER CLUB OF AMERICA (RRCA) certified coaches for a wide variety of runner - whether you're trying to finish your first half or full marathon, or qualify for Boston. Our motto is “if you can run a mile, you can finish a marathon”!

PRE-REQUISITE: Spend at least 4 weeks building a fitness base including completing at least one 5k. If you require a 5k base building training plan, please contact us at endurance@ffc.com.

TRAINING TIPS: Start building both volume and intensity slowly to avoid over-training or injury risk. The weekday runs are just as (if not more) important than your long weekend runs - so focus on increasing your running frequency before you start running longer mileages. Please note that weekday runs should be based on TIME and others on DISTANCE. This allows our plan to tailor towards both novice, intermediate, and advanced athletes at the same time. Advanced runners who have run at least 1 marathon before, can consider following the ADVANCED MARATHON mileage for their long runs, keeping weekday runs the same.
