This 16-week Marathon Intermediate Base plan by GA Endurance is designed for runners who already train consistently and want to build a strong aerobic foundation before transitioning into a structured marathon training block.
It is ideal for athletes who have basic endurance but want to further develop consistency, durability, and efficiency through a structured, progressive base phase.
If you are looking for a balanced and effective approach to improve endurance capacity while preparing your body for more demanding marathon-specific training, this plan provides a clear and controlled pathway.
What You Can Expect
• A complete 16-week structured Base progression for Marathon Intermediate athletes
• Moderate-duration base phase with controlled and progressive load increase
• Strong emphasis on aerobic development and movement consistency
• Progressive long runs to build endurance, durability, and fatigue resistance
• Predominantly easy and steady-state running with limited structured intensity
• Gradual introduction of light tempo and neuromuscular work in later weeks

Requirements
To start this plan, you should be able to:
• Run continuously for at least 10–14 km
• Train consistently 3–4 times per week
• Have a basic aerobic base and recent running experience
• Be ready to follow a progressive and structured base phase
A GPS watch and heart rate monitor are recommended for best results.
