The training program described is intended for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Have the goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon
- Looking to run strong and potentially improve their time
- Interested in incorporating speed work into their training
- Capable of starting the training with an 11-mile long run
- Able to run 32 miles in the first week of training
- Training plans include various components such as long runs, fartleks, tempo runs, track speed workouts, and recovery days
- Willing to run 5 days a week
- Possess marathon running experience, having completed at least three marathons
- Have several years of running experience
- Able to meet the Boston Marathon qualifying time for their age group (no more than 25 minutes over the qualifying time for ages 35-39)
- The training plan is customized based on the individual's Boston Marathon age qualification time.
