The training program described is specifically designed for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Individuals aged 18-34 who aim to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
- Those who are looking to enhance their running performance and improve their timings.
- Those who are interested in incorporating speed work into their training regimen.
- Individuals who can comfortably start the training with a 10-mile long run.
- Those who are capable of running 32 miles in the first week of training.
- People whose training plans include long runs, fartleks, tempo runs, track speed workouts, and designated recovery days.
- Individuals who are prepared to cover a total weekly distance of 43 miles, with the longest single run reaching 22 miles.
- Those who are committed to running 5 days a week. - Runners with prior marathon experience, having completed more than 3 marathons.
- Individuals whose qualifying time for the Boston Marathon is no more than 25 minutes slower than the specified Age 18-34 qualification time.
- The training plan is tailored based on the individual's Boston Marathon Age qualification time.
A competitive runner himself, Wilson Komen brings nearly a decade of experience to his coaching. He sees it as his mission to help all of his runners—new and experienced alike—maintain healthy, consistent training regimens that will lead to rewarding racing experiences.
