Plan Description
Mike Dunlap has his Masters in Exercise Physiology and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. He qualified for the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Trials and ran for the Brooks Racing team from 1982-84.
He followed a training program very similar to this one prior to each of his marathons. This plan is the one he followed prior to his 2:19:48 marathon in 1981. This program would be appropriate for a post college runner with a 30:00-32:00 minute 10K ability. He PR'd 10K @ 30:29 prior to his 2:20:31 in 1979. The 20 week sub 2:20 marathon plan is what he ran in the fall of 1980 ending with a 2:19:48 marathon in early January 1981.
