Beginner Base Training Plan (Bristol Running Coach)
Extensive Base Training Plan for runners preparing for a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon and Marathon.
Length - 17 Weeks
Type - Time based with percentage of maximum effort for Speed work (Most suitable for beginners).
Experience Level - You should be able to run for 30 minutes
Details - This training plan is a gradual and progressive endurance and speed building training model with weekly Z2 running, sprint training, hill sprints, strides and intervals before the build phase.
The method of building tendon strength, recruiting fast twitch fibres and building speed in the base phase is a tactic adopted by the best endurance coaches. This is a better approach to ensuring your potential is maximised and your body is prepared for the build phase
