Plan Description
This plan should help beginner runners gradually build up endurance and confidence to successfully complete a half marathon.
Goals from this plan is to learn how to trust your body, start slow, gradually increase weekly distance, starting 2-3 miles and building to 10-12 miles. Aim to run at a comfortable, steady pace.
Weekly Structure:
- easy runs
- one long run
- speed work/ incorporating intervals or tempo runs to improve speed and stamina
- this plan works great with those cross-training such as cycling, swimming, or strength training to enhance overall fitness and reduce injury risk
- rest days
- includes a mock race day to prep for the end goal/ event
Overall goal: complete a half marathon (13.1 miles) safely and effectively while learning to trust your body, breathing, and nutrition.
