Welcome to the Dad Bod to 1/2 Marathon Plan in 8 weeks
For time crunched Dads who want to train but with limited time or background in running.
Best Suited for beginners and looking to get started with running and minimise injury risk.
Runs are spaced 1 day apart to allow adequate recovery from most sessions. Long run Sundays followed by short run Mondays can be completed in PM if feeling tired and sore.
Most/all runs will be done aerobically to improve CV Fitness and lessen the physical stress of running on the lower limb. Lets face it 1/2 Marathon is not a sprint ~90mins+ So speed work for most people is unnecessary.
If you are feeling tired or more sore than expected. Each sessions can be completed as a walk or potentially on a spin bike to still maintain the cardio aspect and reduce loading on the lower body. I realise this plan may be to easy or two hard for some athletes, but its a great guide on how to space your training out effectively.
