Plan Description

This 6-week beginner friendly 5K training plan is designed for runners looking to improve their 5K performance through structured, progressive training. It is best suited for athletes who can already run continuously for at least 10-15 minutes and are comfortable training 3–4 days per week.

The plan focuses on building aerobic capacity, improving running economy, and gradually introducing threshold and speed work specific to the 5K distance. Workouts are clearly prescribed using effort-based zones (RPE and pace guidance), making the plan accessible even if you do not have advanced training data.

This plan does not include direct coach communication. Athletes should expect to self-manage execution and recovery while following the prescribed sessions. Familiarity with basic running workouts (intervals, steady runs, long runs) is recommended but not required as the plan explains the purpose of each.

Required / Recommended Equipment:

- Running shoes appropriate for workouts and longer runs

- GPS watch or phone app for tracking time and distance

- Optional: heart rate monitor

This plan is ideal for runners targeting a personal best, a local race, or a strong return to structured training after an unstructured period.
