Who This Plan is Best For
This 8-week 10K training plan is designed for runners taking on their first 10K. It is ideal for athletes who:
- Are currently running 2-3 times per week and can comfortably complete a 3-mile run.
- Want a clear, progressive roadmap from 3-mile runs to finishing 6.2 miles feeling strong.
- Have little or no experience with structured training.
Whether your goal is simply to finish or to run the whole way without stopping, this plan guides you every step of the way.
What to Expect
- Gradual Progression: Weekly mileage that builds steadily, with long runs progressing from 4 to 8 miles and a cutback week in the middle for recovery.
- Clear Guidance: Five runs per week with simple instructions - easy runs, strides, and a weekly long run. Every workout includes distance, time, and effort guidance in plain language.
- Self-Guided Plan: A self-paced program with detailed instructions for each workout. Direct communication with a coach is not included, but the plan provides everything you need to succeed independently.
Required Equipment
- A GPS watch or running app to track distance and time.
- Comfortable, properly fitted running shoes.
- Access to safe running routes such as sidewalks, trails, or parks.
