Plan Description

This plan is for the experienced runner who wants to step up their game towards a more targeted approach to 10km. It allows for the lower volume runner, but with plenty of options for doubles (if you be looking for a bit more volume.) It is a time-based RPE approach allowing for a simpler approach, but still along physiologically sound principles. It is a plan that will help you develop a feel for pacing to set you up splendidly on race day not only with specific fitness, but also the skill to get the best out of yourself. Like all the best approaches to 10km success, functional strength is a key component in the form of optimally placed hill workouts to mimic those late race strength requirements in a 10km.
