Plan Description
The 12-Week Intermediate/Advanced Big Mountain Freeride Plan from Mountain Training Center is built for skiers and snowboarders who want to step into the season strong and ready for demanding terrain. Designed for athletes with prior training experience, this program helps you rebuild strength, power, and conditioning so you can confidently tackle steep lines, technical descents, and sustained days in the mountains.
This plan blends the accessibility of at-home training with the added benefits of a basic gym setup. Across twelve weeks, you’ll complete three structured strength sessions per week to target leg power and stability, three core-focused sessions to improve control and endurance, and two anaerobic conditioning workouts to sharpen your explosiveness and recovery capacity. An optional aerobic session rounds out the program for those wanting to maintain or build a stronger base.
The training is progressive, balancing intensity with recovery to steadily build capacity without overtraining. By following the plan, you’ll not only return to mid-season levels of strength and endurance, but also develop the durability to handle variable snow, heavy conditions, and long descents with confidence.
Unlike generic fitness programs, this plan is designed specifically for big mountain freeride performance—equipping you to move with power and control when it matters most. Whether your focus is skiing or snowboarding, the program targets the movement patterns and energy systems that directly translate to stronger, safer, and more enjoyable days in the mountains.
