Plan Description

The 12-Week Intermediate to Advanced Splitboarding Training Plan from Mountain Training Center is built for riders who already have a foundation of training and want to push their fitness further for bigger days in the backcountry. Whether your goal is stacking more vertical on the skin track, linking multiple lines in a day, or simply feeling stronger and more durable on long tours, this program gives you the structure to level up your mountain performance.

This plan emphasizes aerobic capacity, helping you build the endurance needed to move efficiently uphill with a board on your back or underfoot. Over twelve weeks, you’ll progress through workouts that increase your ability to sustain effort on climbs while keeping enough in reserve for powerful descents. By steadily developing your base, you’ll arrive in the mountains with the stamina to go longer, higher, and deeper into the terrain you’re chasing.

In addition to aerobic training, this program prioritizes strength and conditioning tailored to the demands of splitboarding. You’ll develop leg strength for efficient skinning, core stability for balance and control, and upper body durability for the transitions and carrying that come with snowboard-specific travel. Workouts are designed to be flexible, with options for both gym-based and at-home training, making it easy to follow no matter your setup.


The 12-week progression balances training load with recovery, building intensity and volume while giving your body space to adapt. Every workout is clearly structured so you know exactly what to do, whether you’re conditioning indoors or logging training volume outside.
