Plan Description

The 6-Week Strength Progression for Runners & Endurance Athletes from Elite Endurance Physio is built to help runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes move from foundational strength to true power.

Across six purposeful weeks, you’ll follow a progression that begins with mobility and body control, then advances toward heavier, barbell-based lifts — all while balancing your endurance training load. Each week includes clear instructions for sets, reps, rest, and form cues to ensure steady progress and proper recovery.

Phase Breakdown:

Weeks 1–2: Foundations & Activation
Build mobility, stability, and movement quality through bodyweight circuits and light resistance work. Perfect for waking up the hips, glutes, and core.

Weeks 3–4: Strength & Control
Introduce compound lifts and tempo-based strength training. You’ll feel more control through your stride and stronger on hills and longer runs.

Weeks 4–6: Power & Performance
Transition into barbell and free-weight lifts with progressive overload principles. Expect to add more sets, reps, and resistance — safely and intentionally — to translate gym gains into running power.

By the end of six weeks, you’ll have stronger hips, more resilient legs, improved posture, and better running economy. Whether you’re entering a new build phase or maintaining strength during your training cycle, this plan delivers results without unnecessary fatigue.
