8-Week Bodyweight Strength Build for Cyclists
Continue developing total-body strength with two demanding bodyweight sessions per week while cycling remains the primary training priority. This strength-only build is for cyclists with advanced bodyweight-strength experience.
Who This Plan Is For
- Cyclists with advanced bodyweight-strength experience who are already comfortable with circuits and high-repetition work
- Athletes experienced with squats, lunges, push-ups, rows, pull-ups or chin-ups, and burpees
- Riders seeking a two-day strength schedule during a cycling build phase
- Athletes able to recover from strength work without compromising their key rides
Training Commitment
- Length: eight weeks
- Frequency: two strength sessions per week
- Average strength time: 1 hour 45 minutes per week
- Longest scheduled session: 60 minutes
What the Workouts Include
Sessions combine lower-body patterns, upper-body push-pull work, trunk training, and short conditioning finishers. Programmed movements include squats, backward lunges, push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, inverted rows, pelvic peels, burpees, and mountain climbers.
Equipment
- Exercise shoes and a timer
- A secure pull-up or chin-up setup is strongly recommended
- A stable setup for row variations
- An exercise mat, towel, water bottle, and foam roller as needed
This is not a beginner program. It assumes you can perform the listed movements with control, and it does not teach exercise technique. The plan contains strength workouts only and does not prescribe cycling sessions.
Choose the 12-Week Bodyweight Strength Base plan instead if you want three strength sessions per week during an off-season or base phase.
Serious goals. Real lives. Structured training that respects both.
KyleCoaching helps masters and time-constrained cyclists build endurance, raise FTP, develop race-specific power, and stay durable without treating recovery, work, and family as rounding errors.
