12-Week Plan: Steady Power for the Long Haul
For riders who have the base fitness and want to race — or finish strong in — a gravel event in the 50 to 100 mile range. The goal here is not brute force. It is the ability to hold steady power for two to six hours, manage pace over varied terrain, and arrive at the finish line with something left. This twelve-week plan builds aerobic volume first, then layers in sweet spot and threshold work over the middle and final blocks. Four sessions per week. A power meter is recommended; a heart rate monitor works too.
