This plan is built for cyclists preparing for the Gravel Unravel series on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, with a focus on developing the fitness, skills, and confidence needed to handle long climbs, variable gravel terrain, and race-day fatigue.

It’s designed for **beginner to advanced riders** who want structured progression without overcomplication. Whether you’re aiming to finish strong, improve performance, or simply feel more confident on gravel, this plan builds the key attributes needed: aerobic endurance, climbing strength, pacing discipline, and bike handling skills.

🎯 Who This Plan Is For

* Gravel riders preparing for events like Bon Jon Pass Out or Why-Not-Chee Gravel, all distances
* Athletes who want a clear, structured progression with room for adaptability
* Riders already comfortable riding 3–6 hours per week (modifiable for beginners/advanced)
* Athletes who want to improve both fitness + technical skill

🧠 What You’ll Build

* Aerobic endurance for long gravel efforts
* Sweet spot and threshold strength for sustained climbs
* VO2 capacity for race surges and steep sections
* Real-world pacing and fueling strategy
* Confidence handling gravel terrain (climbing + descending)

* Gravel bike or road bike with appropriate tires
* Power meter (recommended, not required)
* Heart rate monitor (optional but helpful)
* Indoor trainer for structured sessions (optional)
* Basic strength training equipment or gym membership (dumbbells/barbell/kettlebells)

🏋️ Structure of the Plan

* 11-week progressive build (3 build weeks / 1 week deload/recovery structure)
* Integrated cycling + strength training
* Dedicated skills sessions for gravel handling
* Race-specific preparation and taper week
