Plan Description
Adding resistance training to your weekly routine is a proven way to increase cycling performance. This program is designed to complement your regular on-the-bike work and consists of 3 days of strength training per week spread over a 20 week period and split into 3 phases: Adaptation, Development, and Maintenance.
The program is best suited to competitive athletes wishing to add strength training to their off season routine. There are 19 weeks of active strength training following a 3X /week upper/ lower body split which then transitions to a maintenance phase to coincide with the athlete's return to more event-specific on-the-bike training and racing.
The program can be used by those with a comprehensive home gym setup, but is most suited to those with an active commercial gym membership.
