Plan Description

My 16-week program, designed for beginner mountain bikers and road cyclists preparing for the Absa Cape Epic, is crafted to help you reach your full potential. Using a traditional 4-phase periodization system, the program incorporates:

General Preparation: Focuses on on-bike strength development

Base Preparation: Builds aerobic fitness

Transition Phase: Enhances threshold conditioning

Peak Phase: Optimizes power

The program peaks with a challenging week around week 7, requiring about 12 hours of training, with an average weekly commitment of around 7 hours. Once you master this, you can advance to the intermediate plan, which follows a similar structure but includes longer training weeks and higher intensity. With this approach, you’ll be well-prepared for the demands of the Absa Cape Epic and ready to elevate your performance.
