Plan Description
This 27 week plan is designed to prepare cyclists for the Raid Pyrenean 100 Hour Challenge, a set audax route that crosses the Pyrenees starting in Cerbère on the coast of France and finishing in Hendaye on the Coast of Spain. The route has 14386m of climb (47200 feet) over 737km (458miles); you could therefore use this plan for an event or ride similar in length and climb if you wish.
The official event is run by Cyclo Club Béarnais (https://ccb-cyclo.fr/en/raid-pyreneen.html) through whom you can register your event; alternatively there are several planned and supported events that you can take part in.
There is a base included in the plan but I have assumed some basic cycling fitness and you will need to be cycling 3 times per week on a regular basis including 1 long ride of 3 hours.
The plan is designed for you to have some choice about the volume you want to do depending on your ability and time available by allocating 'Key Workouts' which are the minimum suggested training and additional workouts which you can choose to do if you wish and have the time and energy to do so.
All workouts are structured to power using Cogan's training zones.
