AEROBIC (3) TRAINING BLOCK
This block is part of a broader training system designed to help you apply core training principles to your situation.
Rather than prescribing a fixed plan, these blocks are meant to be used as templates — customized based on your available time, current fitness, and where you are in the season. The Annual Training Plan (ATP) provides the framework for making those adjustments.
When this block makes sense
AEROBIC (3) is most appropriate when:
-you’re continuing to build a strong aerobic base and want a slightly higher training stimulus
-you feel ready for more stress without moving into high-intensity work
-you want to improve aerobic durability and lactate clearance
-you’re balancing structured training with group rides or B/C-priority events
This block is often useful when you want to maintain freshness while still progressing aerobically, especially if weekend group rides or lower-priority races matter to you.
Volume and workload can be scaled up or down depending on your availability, background, and goals.
This block can be followed as written, repeated, or modified. The goal isn’t perfection — it’s to observe how slightly higher demands affect fatigue, freshness, and consistency, and to use that information to guide your next decision.
Because this block sits at the upper end of aerobic work, it’s a good place to learn how small changes in workload, time in zone, and recovery influence how you feel week to week.
