Boone scores only four sectors, but every climb and descent determines what power reaches them
The organizer confirms Boone Gran Fondo for Sunday, August 8, 2027, with approximately 80-, 55-, and 25-mile routes. The current official Gran route resolves to 79.3 miles and roughly 7,700 feet of gain across repeated Blue Ridge climbs and descents, with four timed sectors deciding the result. Detailed logistics are still labeled 2026 and subject to change; the final 2027 route and rider documents win.
For the rider with a full calendar and four to six hours a week, this twelve-week plan directs limited training time toward repeatable Appalachian climbing, controlled descending, timed-sector pacing, fueling, and fatigue resistance, with one purposeful longer ride each week.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
