Climb from Medellin's 1,480-meter valley floor toward 2,500 meters, then keep working across the high country
A high-altitude mass-start road race that leaves central Medellín, climbs from a roughly 1,480 m valley floor to terrain near 2,500 m, spends a substantial middle block on rolling mountain roads, and descends back to the city. The organizer's current route page publishes a 138 km Medellín GPX through the northern high country, while the UCI series overview still describes a different 120 km corridor and the May regulations retain provisional 150 km language. The altitude stack: begin at roughly 1,480 m, climb toward 2,500 m, then keep producing power on the high plateau before descending back to Medellín.
For the rider chasing a competitive result on nine to thirteen hours a week, this twelve-week plan develops altitude-aware sustained climbing, high-country pacing, descending confidence, fueling, and final-route adaptability so the decisive moves at the organizer's current 138-kilometer route, approximately 2,000 meters of climbing, and sustained riding near 2,500 meters are still available.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
