The Tramuntana is only the first half of Mallorca 312's bill
The 312-kilometer long route starts and finishes at Playa de Muro on fully closed paved roads. Its 5,050 meters of climbing are front-loaded through the Serra de Tramuntana, where sustained passes and switchback descents around Puig Major and Coll de Soller demand restraint, before the course turns toward faster rolling and exposed roads in eastern Mallorca. The decisive problem is the combination of Serra de Tramuntana climbing and the enormous distance that remains afterward.
For the experienced rider training seven to eleven hours a week, this twelve-week plan balances ultra-distance durability, conservative pacing, fueling, equipment systems, and fatigue management with deliberate recovery so fitness rises without carrying avoidable fatigue into Mallorca 312.

Hey, I'm Matti. I spent 11 years at TrainingPeaks, where they trusted me to teach coaches how to coach at TrainingPeaks University. I raced Amateur Elite with Rio Grande Cycling Team and podiumed my age group at Unbound 200 in 2026. I have a degree in biology and exercise physiology from St. Olaf. I'm also a middle-aged dad of three, so I know training doesn't happen in a vacuum. I help gravel riders get stupidly fast without becoming the person who brings a food scale to a party
